The unmissable cultural events of summer 2026 in Strasbourg

Every summer, Strasbourg transforms into an open-air stage.

From July 4 to August 31, 2026, the Alsatian capital will offer a rich, festive, and entirely free program for both visitors and locals.

Between concerts, a street arts festival, folklore, and the illumination of the cathedral, the Strasbourg summer promises to be spectacular!

The Enchanting Illuminations of the Cathedral

A summer in Strasbourg wouldn't be complete without experiencing the illuminations of Notre-Dame Cathedral.

Every evening, the façade of this Gothic jewel, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, is adorned with spectacular light displays.

From the beginning of July to the end of August, the sound and light show takes place from 10:30 p.m. to midnight, with free admission.

This iconic event reveals details invisible during the day and offers a poetic interpretation of the monumental architecture.

It's one of the most anticipated highlights of the summer season.

The Place du Château will once again be transformed into a forest, creating a bucolic soundscape.

Open-air concerts and musical events

The Symphony of the Arts

Held in the heart of the Jardin des Deux Rives (Garden of the Two Shores), the Symphony of the Arts is the musical event that marks the beginning of the summer festivities.

It will take place on June 26 and 27, 2026, with an eclectic program including jazz, pop, rap, and French chanson.

The most anticipated event remains the open-air concert by the Strasbourg Philharmonic Orchestra on June 27 at 9:30 p.m.

A completely free event!

The Bandstand and Alsatian Traditions

Located in the heart of the Parc des Contades, 5 minutes from the Place de la République, the famous Bandstand offers concerts several times a week, generally on Sundays and Wednesdays.

Between jazz, classical music, and brass bands, the atmosphere is friendly and festive.

Fans of regional culture will also appreciate the folk events organized in the city center, featuring traditional dances, Alsatian costumes, and folk orchestras.

The Docks Malraux and Open-Air Cinema

On the Malraux peninsula, the Docks d’été (Summer Docks) have become one of the top summer spots for families.

This urban beach, located on the waterfront, offers deckchairs, family entertainment, water sports, and festive gatherings every day from 8 a.m. to midnight in a pleasant setting.

Every Friday evening, the city also offers open-air cinema screenings in several Strasbourg neighborhoods.

From the end of the day, you can enjoy a drink or a snack from the food trucks and refreshment stands that set up before the film.

A great way to discover Strasbourg from a different perspective, away from the usual tourist routes.

FARSe, the street arts festival to close out the summer

FARSe, Strasbourg's Street Arts Festival, closes the season with a bang.

At the end of August, street artists, theater companies, and dancers take over the squares and alleyways of the city center.

More than 50 free shows transform the city into a giant living stage.

This festival attracts both locals and tourists every year, all eager to share a convivial and poetic experience.
